Modular Sources

Our Modular Design offers almost 90 degrees of beam impact angle on the entire area of the pocket along with uniform energy distribution. The improved focus was very carefully tuned, and starts with the construction of the filament block.

The Modular System consists of a Beam Generator, a Base Plate, a Cover Support and Crucible with Cover.

Besides the high performance offered by our EB-Guns, the modular design also features many benefits over the traditional approach:

• multi-purpose source at a fraction of the price you've payed before : just buy a Beam Generator and multiple base plates and crucibles and you have an entire line of top performing sources;
• the beam characteristics are the same regardless of the configuration;
• single hearth up to 400mm multiple hearth with the same Beam Generator;
• easy handling and mounting / dismantling;
• OEM's dream in stock management;
• instant upgrade for existing customers (only crucible, cover and base plate required);
• custom designs readily available, no expensive tooling or engineering required : multiple Beam Generators on the same crucible (picture below) or on the same long liner (for the high-end solar panel industry);

This is a new way of looking at the source from the client's point of view. Don't choose a crucible-less design, you will end up with a lot of problems:

• most of them offer a good spot only in the center of the pocket at high KV values;
• poor cooling;
• hard to attach the cover;
• lack of precision in locating the crucible against the emitter assembly;
• water connectors below HV studs, or located in the side plates.
